Exceptional Ops Summer Socialization Program

2021 Exceptional Ops Admission Procedures

Social Skills Summer Program: Inclusive, Recreational and Educational


Program Location – Grace Church, 164 Flat Creek Trail, Fayetteville, GA 30214


ADMISSION - The following criteria will be utilized:

  • The Program is for rising 7th graders through young adult.
  • These young adults have been identified as having developmental disabilities. They would like to participate to learn social skills to enhance their abilities to make and maintain friendships and relationships. 
  • Participants will be in groups of 6 for direct instruction lessons.
  • Participants will be grouped by ability and age. 
  • Participant does not exhibit behaviors that will interfere with his/her own benefit or that of another student in the program
  • Participant must be able to tend to their own personal hygiene independently
  • Participants will be required to wear paper face masks and may be required to wear nitrile gloves. Hands will be spritzed with hand sanitizer upon entering and leaving the building. (ExOPS will provide the masks, gloves and sanitizer)
  • Participants temperatures will be taken upon arrival each day of the program. Temperature must be 100.4 degrees or lower in order to attend (temperatures will be taken by using a Hot Spot thermometer pointed at the participant’s forehead)
  • Participants must be able to maintain a distance of 6 feet from their peers (with instruction and reminding by staff). 
  • Parents must remain in their vehicles when dropping off and picking up their kids
  • Participants will be screened upon arrival.  Anyone with a cough, fever, or cold symptoms will not be able to attend that day


Admission criteria will not discriminate against a person based on sex, race, color, creed, religion, national origin or disability.

Summer Socialization Volunteers

PROGRAM BENEFITS: Participants will learn how to communicate effectively and make and maintain friendships and relationships. During these sessions, social skills lessons will be taught and social interaction with their peers. Every week we will have different activities. Lessons and activities will focus on Communication Skills, Self-Advocacy Skills, Teambuilding, Safety, and Healthy Habits. 


LOCATION: Grace Church, 164 Flat Creek Trail, Fayetteville, GA 30214

SOCIAL DISTANCING: Social distancing of 6 feet apart must be maintained. Your child MUST be able to follow this criterion in order to participate. The dates for this program are on Tuesdays, June 15th, 22nd, 29th, and July 13th and 20th 


SESSION TIME & LENGTH: The session will begin at 1:00 PM and end at 3:00 PM.
Applicants will be considered on a first come first served basis. There is no deadline for application but when slots are full, applications will not be considered.

TRANSPORTATION: Transportation is NOT provided.

COST: The cost will be $50.00 for the total program. Deposit of $25 required.Should you need financial assistance please contact Mrs. Janet Smola at 770 631 1035

STAFFING: There will be one lead instructor and at least one assistant staff member per group. Jenny Bellamy and Mary Giusti, experienced social skills instructors, will be the lead instructors. College Students will be utilized as recommended by one of the teachers, counselors and ExceptionalOPS.
